Mindy ("Mindy," "we," "us," or "our") provides a text-based navigation and companion service for family caregivers. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our website or texting our number, you agree to this Policy.
Information we collect
We collect information you give us directly, including:
- Contact information: your name, mobile phone number, and email when you text us or use our start page.
- Information about the person you care for: on our start page you may tell us about your loved one, such as their name, ZIP code, living situation, how to reach them, and what you'd like help with. We use it to help with your request and to reach out to them the way you chose.
- Card deck answers: when you finish sorting the cards in our "Deal Me In" card game, we save your answers, the first name you typed (if any) and which parent you sorted for. If you create a profile at the end, we also save your email with your cards. By creating a profile, you agree to get emails from Mindy about your cards, caregiving tips and our services. Every email has a way to unsubscribe. We don't ask for your phone number or your parent's name there. Answers from siblings who play from the same shared link are grouped together. We use them to learn which care tasks families carry and which fall through. If you send the share link, your answers are also inside that link, so anyone you send it to can see them.
- Messages and content: the text messages you send us and any details you choose to share about yourself and the person you care for.
- Usage information: basic technical data such as message timestamps and delivery status. On our start page we count which steps were completed, without your answers, so we can make it shorter.
- Website analytics: our website pages use Google Analytics to count visits and see how people found us, for example from a postcard. It uses cookies and collects data such as pages viewed, device and browser type, and approximate location. We have turned off Google's advertising features. Google Analytics is not on our start page, so nothing you type there goes to Google. We don't use ad trackers. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on.
You decide how much to share. Please only send information you are comfortable providing over text.
How we use your information
- To provide the service — respond to your texts, send proactive check-ins, and give you navigation guidance and support.
- To personalize your experience so you don't have to repeat your story each time.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the service.
- To communicate with you about the service, including service updates and, where you have consented, the pilot/beta program.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect the safety of our users.
SMS / text messaging
When you text our number, you consent to receive text messages from Mindy related to your inquiry and the service, including proactive check-ins. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier and plan.
You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message; you will receive one confirmation and then no further texts unless you opt back in. Reply HELP for assistance. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your mobile opt-in information or phone number with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in limited ways:
- Service providers — vendors who help us operate the service (for example, our SMS/messaging platform), who are bound to use it only to provide services to us. Mobile opt-in data is never shared for these providers' own marketing.
- Legal and safety — when required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as needed to provide the service and for legitimate business or legal purposes. You may ask us to delete your information at any time (see below).
Security
Answers from our start page go straight to our secure, access-controlled records system, not to our website host. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Not medical, legal, or financial advice
Mindy provides navigation and support. We do not replace your doctors, lawyers, or paid care providers, and our messages are not medical, legal, or financial advice. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.
Children's privacy
Our service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Your choices and rights
- Opt out of texts anytime by replying STOP.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information by contacting us.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new "Last updated" date.
