About Mindy
Susanna Wiborg, RNFounder, Mindy
I've watched two people I love age very differently. It changed how I think about this season of life.
My grandmother died at 98. She planned ahead. When my grandfather needed more support, she proactively moved them into a continuing care retirement community, then kept living there on her own after he passed. She thrived, branching into new hobbies she'd never had time for. As she aged, she still needed weekly visits from my mom, additional aide services, and eventually hospice. But because she'd planned, her choices were a gift to our family. They eased the burden instead of adding to it.
The other person was my aunt. She had no plan. She stuck her head in the sand about her health care needs. As the nurse in the family, it fell to me to help create a plan to get her into a facility, one that required using her only asset: her home. It was time-consuming, stressful, and complicated by a trail of lost documents that rippled through our family until the day she died.
Two people had two completely different experiences, for everyone involved. I knew there had to be a better way.
As a nurse and a technical person, I've always known about the care manager role: the trained professional who builds and coordinates a plan for an aging adult's care over time. But most people have never heard of care management until they need it. And even when they do, they often can't afford it.
That's why I created Mindy.
People love nurses because they wear many hats: part caretaker, part therapist, part motivational coach, part coordinator. Mindy is the nurse who walks beside you through this entire season. She gives you a comprehensive picture, anticipates what's coming down the road, and helps you advocate for your loved one and for yourself.
If you asked AI for help
You're not alone. A lot of people's first move now is to ask a simple question: "How do I care for Mom or Dad?" And almost every answer circles back to the same phrase: care management.
Most people have never heard of it.
A care manager is a trained professional, often a nurse or social worker, who builds and coordinates a plan for an aging adult's care. They know what's coming next, line up the right care, and keep everyone in the family on the same page. If something falls beyond their scope, they recommend or refer.
You rarely learn about care management until you're suddenly responsible for a parent, or it's forced upon you in a hospital or retirement facility. When a facility provides it, it can be incredible, but the scope is limited to that point in time. And if you do go looking for help, you may hit a wall: private care management often costs $150 to $300 an hour. So the people who need it most are exactly the ones who struggle to access it.
Mindy brings you the work a great care manager does every day, one text away: the full picture of your loved one's situation, a heads-up on what's next before it becomes urgent, and help making the right call, for them and for you. And behind Mindy is a real nurse: me.
Mindy doesn't replace your doctors, lawyers, or paid care. We help you navigate and feel less alone.
I'd love for you to be one of our early families. Text Mindy or email me at info@hi-mindy.com to get started.
